It will cost more than to buy a new one. Next time tie 3 knots in its cable and install surge protectors in your home. The Joules rating determine its life span * +

How the hell will lightning strike it when its standing in the road? A channel of negative charge called a stepped leader and shoots to the ground where its attracted to a channel of positive charge reaching up like a tree, a house, telephone poles. Electricity poles etc etc. Your printer will only get wet if it rains because surges come through thru your homes wiring when lightning strike them * +

@adeeb... Very bad n poor joke... Dont laugh at others sufferings............. @grinlok.... Obviously thunder can strike it even if you keep it on the road... Coz anything placed on the ground becomes positive host even if its an insulator because of the rain... And when the negative charge searches for the nearest ground, it can find any object higher than the ground level and it strikes.... * +

And some people thinks that only switching off any electrical appliances can save it from thunder strike, but its wrong.... Any equipment is in risk as long as it is connected to the mains.... But risks are very low if you have proper earthing in your mains.... And special precautions should always be taken when using appliances like tv's which have external antennas.... Always disconnect the antenna during frequent thunders..... * +

Though my home has decent earthings, I have made my own special earthing line for my pc to protect it from thunder... Coz I live in a hill tracks area and thunder striking is too common here... I've connected my pc's casing directly to this earth line and a high voltage capacitor is connected in series to the positive line of my pc.... Thus if thunder finds out my home wiring, my this little system protects the pc :-) ...... Coz I love my pc more than thunder loves earth.....lol.gif * +
