I notice on my graphics card that I have what looks like 2 HDMI ports (ATI 5700), if I wanted to game sitting in front of TV would I be able to do it simply by running a HDMI from PC to TV? If so would I get video and sound through TV? Also could it display on monitor and TV simultaniously, DVi to monitor HDMI to TV, or would I need to swap leads every time I wanted to play? * +

You have HDTV with hdmi and at the same time monitor, probably with DVI? Leave them connected and switch between them with the control panel. You can get sound over HDMI by setting ati hdmi audio as default playback. I just use my Pc sound though, as its my 5.1 system anyway * +

as partan says. but there is some issues. not all tv's accept the signal for screensize. so what gets reported back to the pc can often lead to distorted aspect ratios... if you have a 1080i tv for instance its actualy better to output at 540p and let the tv upscale it to 1080i coz if you send a 1080i signal some tv's wont accept it and will just show a black screen... so be aware you hay have to * +

use the desktops own advanced settings rather than the gfx cards control panel. * +

btw 540p upscale gives exactly the same image quality as 1080i anyway... 540p will allow the tv to upscale which saves the pc from doing it then outputting 1080i to the tv. * +

OK so my monitor resolution is 1600X900, can I set the HDMI to a different resolution? My TV will accept 1920X1080 according to instruction manual. * +

YEP!... your tv will show up as a secondary display with its own settings... you will see a list of all the rezilutions your tv supports in its own dropdown. but like i said not all tvs transmit the correct info so you may not see 1080p listed but rather a rez that is exactly half of what you want. and the tv will then upscale it. * +

also remember that the hdmi lead must be compliant with both gfx and tv. mine for instance is 1.3 but my tv can take 1.4 so i have to use the 1.3 standard. * +
