Windows is always genuine if it isnt modifed. it says that because it isnt activated or somehow your activation in the registry is messed. * +

I had this issue with a Toshiba netbook. I bought windows 7 premuim upgrade disc and the upgrade went very smoothly. It ran faultesly for 6 months then one day I switched it on and it said windows wasnt genuine. It did boot up though and went into the desktop without a hitch. It happened just the once though and its never happened since. Like you I knew my windows was genuine. * +

More likely the original install of the OS was not licensed for more than three copys , and only to one household . Click that what to do link and provide all the info on where you bought your laptop from . You just might get lucky . * +

When Microsoft sees more than 5 keys registered at the same time , they get suspicious about piracy and perform an audit on all the keys in use . That's why I stay away from those small shops , they pull stunts like that all the time . * +
