Well a 6970 is a fair leap over the 6790. However i wouldn't think you were in desperate hurry to replace the 6790, but your opinion is what counts most. I personally would be waiting until january or so and investing in a brand new generation chip that will be a big leap over a 6790 and even a 6970 * +
