anyone know of any free converters that will convert either divix or avi to old vcd or cdi video format? *

Because a friend of mine has an ancient win 98 laptop that has cd rom only. He thinks it may play vcd videos as it does play cdi video discs. (from the old philips cdi player format) *

normally old vcd videos comes with mpeg video format try mpeg 1/2 format *
