hello, im having serious problems getting this chip to work. The main one is the clock wont start even tho ive sent a 0x00 byte to address 0x00 so that bit 7 is cleared to start the clock. It i enable the squwave output of pin 7 on the chip by sending the command to address 0x07 the output stays at logic 0. I do not get a square wave out when i observe it on a logic probe. * +

if i read the seconds repeatedly from address 0x00 they do not change but stay as 00. Ive tested my software and confirmed i have no errors and my I2C bus routines work fine with a 24LC256 EEPROM and also the ds1307 ram locations which can be written and read fine. But i just cant get the clock to start. * +

i also had to rework and check my board for stray capacitances and EMI around the crystal and chip and i also tryed another chip and crystal so im totaly stuck for a solution. Anybody used this chip before??? * +

have you tried adressing the other bits? to see if they throw out any anomolys? * +

yes i have. I tried to set the time and date by sending the values to the clocks registers and reading them back. they read as zero's. * +
