Has Impressive power draw and bandwidth, 7970 is a monster with 2000 cores. 7670 needs only 60W to feed 768 cores. * +

Well....kinda. Not massively impressed because they are 28nm parts. 40 down to 28nm is one of the biggest leaps in recent years, mainly because it was supposed to go to 32nm, but TSMC cancelled it and concentrated on 28nm. So the relative jump is bigger than say 55nm down to the current 40nm. * +

See what Nvidia brings to the table If 7970 only has 2048 cores then thats disappointing, but the touted use of XDR2 as video memory is intriguing! I expected at least 2500+ cores for their faster single GPU part. I fully expect Nvidia to deliver us something with double the number of cuda cores of a GTX580, and roughly doubling its performance. 7970 wouldn't do that over 6970. * +

Personally because of the low number of streams that 7970 is said to have (only 2046??) and because i don;t believe XDR2 is suitable for video memory on these cards, i would say those specs are faked. Won;t be long to find out now anyways will it? * +

Not with those specs it isnt they look as fake as anything to me. However if they are supposed to be real than 2048 cores @ 1ghz is cr*p for a next generation top end part. That would be only 30 percent more cores and TMUs at 15 percent more clock speed over a 6970. Thats a pathetic increase for a n ew generation high end part. * +
