ive use avg antivirus a while now without any problems, but a few days ago it stopped working properly. the icon in the tray bar got the exclamation mark and i couldn't update it and some of the features was disabled. i tried to uninstall but it just disappeared from the the list but the avg is still there. as i said i can update and i use the 2011 free addition. * +

it sounds like it got corrupted and the removal failed, best thing to do is re-instal it, once done reboot then try removing it again * +

when i try to install it using the original or newly downloaded installation file it gives me an error C:program files (x86)avgavg10avgupdx.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. what the hell? im using this antivirus for some time now and never stumbled on this kind of problem.P.S tried using CCleaner, didnt help either. * +

Try going to safe mode and then removing it . I might be an update that is locking it up and keeping you from removing it . goodluck * +
