u have 2 connect a separate cable frm laptop to tv also ,dnt knw its name bt i cal it a 2 by 1 cable. * +

HDMI carries audio. Right click on the volume icon in the lower right hand side while your laptop is plugged into the TV, select playback devices and see what your default audio device is set to. You might be able to change it to your TV. * +

I just connect my external speakers and that works for me

i connect my laptops to my tv via hdmi and get full 7.1 surround through my yamaha receiver for the best possible sound. dont have to deal with this cheap (cant afford it, external speaker) cr*p. thats for poor people. * +
