Why are they soo expensive saw on maplin for a 256gb one GBP399.99 jaw dropping and thats just for 256gb ssd id hate to see what a 1tb would cost * +

It is annoying... The cheap solution atm is to get a small SSD for the OS and applications and fit ya current HDD into the optical bay, using a caddy, for storage, you may be lucky and have a second HDD bay *17in laptop for example*... I'm not sure I wanna do that, so I'll be waiting for a 250GB SSD to be priced 100 quid... Might have a long wait considering 1 quid per GB is currently considered the sweet spot * +

Ssd is still a recent tech and as such (and as always) very expensive. The more is sold, the more is built, the more they research for cheaper ways of build it will getlio cheaper. also ''they'' are still maring huge money with the cheaper HDD and the expensive SSD so don't expect it to low the price soon (or fast). * +

As long as the majority keep buying convential Hard drives the price of SSD wont decrease dramatically anytime soon. Its amazing to think that most of todays computers are still based on the same basic principle that they were nearly 30 years ago as far as the hard drive is concerned. Yes, obviously they have got faster and much bigger but the actual technology behind it is really quite ancient. * +

get one asap and u will be blown away on just how fast every thing is . Yes a raid a pair of good 1tb drives are fast .but a ssd destroys any raid array in seek time . Im ndver going back to an old mechanical drive for my os they are the bottle neck in any system * +
