i was playing music earlier on my pc when it just switched off by itself.When I restarted it I received a report saying windows failed to start and gave start up repair option,which i selected.....The windows is loading files screen came on and now two hours has gone by and its still just on that screen.Should I just leave it alone or try to restart it?I would appreciate any advice please.Thank you * +

it will continue for ages if it gets stuck trying to find the fault. just reboot, if given the same options screen select, 'last know working configeration' instead of the repair option * +

its almost certainly hard disk corrution has damaged the registry and some important files. In this case you may find you have re-install windows from the recovery disk or original install disks. * +

it sounds like the hard drive is failing, try removing it, turning on without it and turn off again, refit it and try again, might not do anything but worth a try * +

just insert dvd windows nd choose repair startup. next time if os down to boot just press f8 nd choose boot on save mode then restart to normally * +
