I've got a bit of a problem that's puzzling me. I just got a ext hdd but it won't show under devices with removable storage but rather shows under my disconnected network locations. This is annoying since I'm trying to format it but I can't because it's not being classified correctly, what can I do? * +

It does this with most removable storage btw not just this hdd * +

It's probably your usb interface that's malfunctioning. You can download slimdrivers to update all your computer's drivers so if it's a matter of outdated drivers the problem will be solved. If not, then it's in fact you usb hardc*re that's kaput. * +
