Not a major upgrade...lol.... Today I bought a new Core2duo E7500 Processor, 1GB ddr2 RAM and an ABIT mobo.... Hope this processor is decent enough for my normal usage..... Spent the whole day installing these in my current casing and PSU..... * +

Meanwhile having some difficulties adjusting the mobo..... Anyways, everything is stable now but only a big problem left....
.... When I press the power button, the windows freezes at the last screen showing WINDOWS IS SHUTTING DOWN.... Same thing happens when I click the shut down button from start menu.... Please suggest me some possible causes guys, I'm clueless.... * +

And I should admit that its a fresh copy of windows XP which I've just installed and during the installation process I had to restart it manually (with the reset pin) everytime it prompted.... So I think its not an OS problem... Can it be anything in bios setting?....... * +

Abit stopped making motherboards a while ago and they are no longer supported. * +

I had nothing but trouble with my 680i Abit mobo. I was glad to get rid of it. If it had worked properly it would have actually been a quite good board. * +

that processor will be fine even with win vista. Get another 2 gb of ram tho * +

@newt..... Yes, they stopped their service but I was bound to choose abit, coz it was the only mobo I found withing my budget...lol.... The processor ate more than a half of my wallet............ @plz... A bit relieved hearing about the processor.... But, vista?... Never....lol * +
