can you open the drive/partition throught context menu. if so,i beleive checking the disk won't do absolutely anything. i'm pretty sure its a registry issue in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT,the key Drive i think. look at your context menu and see is there an open entry * +

double-clicking drive often triggers viruses inside your drive as they have autorun. to be more safe, click the folder icon on top then select the drive you want to open * +

autorun is a virus on its own lol or at least a mayor security issue. i simply disable Shell Hardware Detection service (i think thats the one) and its all fine. the only con about doing so is not seeing your DVD drive marked as DVD drive but CD drive. but all functionality remains and no more autoplay of any kind *
