At present Intel X58 chipset supports only microprocessors in LGA1366 form-factor and it is unlikely that the core-logic will support future Sandy Bridge E central processing units (CPUs). According to a very-recent post over at X-bit Labs, Intels upcoming X79 chipset will offer support for not only Sandy Bridge-Es LGA 2011 socket, but also Intels existing enthusiast socket, LGA 1366. Keep in mind that this is chipset compatibility and not socket compatibility. * +
