Ok so my acer aspire was 1gb ddr2 ram and its running vista home premium. I thought id upgrade the ram so opened it and thers 2 500mb ram card things. They are in 2 orange slots. Then next to the orange ones that are used by the 2x 500mb rams theirs another 2 slots but purple not orange. What are they for? Iv got a 2gb kingston ram upgrade * +

It's important to know what the motherboard supports in terms of max RAM ... The different colours are for matching pairs of RAM, as long as the module you bought is supported, just stick it in a spare slot. * +

I read vista can mess up with 4gb ram. U think if I leave the 2 500mb cards in and also insert the 2gb I have il get 3gb ram? * +

you ever replaced RAM before? It's very easy... Watch a YouTube video first... If you feel like you're having to force anything, you're doing it wrong. * +

No, all iv done with a pc is install a gfx card. Iv taken the 500mb rams out to look at them so it shouldnt be too hard *
