guys and girls just need your help, how do i know my hard drive is bug*ered n not the IT guy trying to swindel me, i have a acer laptop n 2days back it just kept saying insert boot disk, took it to a IT place n the guy said the hdd is shot n i must dump it as the laptop also shot. so i took it else where n the guy told me the hdd shows in the watever u call it menu, just the os doesnt wat to boot, * +

don't know prices, but you should be able to get a hdd fairly cheap...prob is just the hdd, can't see it being the laptop itsself. * +

well this IT guy told me i can throw it away as its to expensive to get it fixed, so i asked my friend to go to incredible connection n its about 350rand for a 320gd, so the IT guy wanted to screw me * +

Have you tried fixing the boot files? What OS are you using? Also are the BIOS boot settings correct? * +

windows7 n to be honest i dont know, but a friend said he will get my data from the hdd, so i just got a new hdd, as i dont have the time to struggle with something that might not work, as monday im suppose to have my work done so out of fear of not getting done, but thank you all for your help but i will ask my friend to do as you said *
