If I disable and uninstall drivers, then all goes as expected, but if I reboot, they just revert back. Completely fruitless. Still on 1280x720, suppose I'l have to make do til I can afford to replace monitor or graphics card * +

You must be getting frustrated nomnom I would leave it for tomorrow then maybe try tweaking the Nvidia control panel again. *
