when i start up my pc i can hear a strange sound coming from the monitor.It lasts around ten mins then it goes quiet.Could it be due to the cold temperature or is it a sign that the monitor is playing up?Any advice would be appreciated.thanx * +

If that is a crt monitor , it's about to go out on you . Get a new one before that happens , before it could possibly short out and damage your video card or worse . (pchelp) * +

You are welcome . It is probably a capacitor going bad . But a new monitor would be cheaper than the repair bill . * +

I had this with an old CRT monitor once. I changed the hertz of the video card output and it stopped. * +

Overworked that electron gun , eh ? Your monitor should have a maximum hertz refresh rate . Mine is 85 hertz . But I keep it at 60 hertz to extend the life . * +
