Just got a new desktop, printer and ups at my office yesterday... Its DELL OptiPlex and has XP preinstalled... Today I started it and after the welcome screen, it showed some kind of Spool Error... When I press OK, everything seems to be working fine... But in ms word, excel etc, when I select the font, it hangs.... And when I tried to install the printer(canon) via add hardware, it showed the Spool Error again and I'm unable to add the printer.... * +

Now what the spool error means?... And I'm wondering, do I have to clean install the os again? (what I dont want atm, coz the original XP CD is not included with the system and what I'm having are pirated win7 and XP's :-( ... * +

You'll need to get the updated drivers for your printer from it's website. And it may solve that problem. Look. Look into gpedit if the printer spooler service is on or off. * +

I've got the driver cd of the printer but whenever I try anything regarding the printer, it shows error... Btw, I'll check what u said about spooler service... Thanks *
