as i got from the registry,chkdck runs on every boot and if it finds traces of corruption it scans the disk and tries to repair all bad sectors. it happened to me offtenly before.luckily,i still have the same hard drive even if that was like ages ago.malware perhaps * +

failing to cancel disk check?use esc key.Otherwise wait until your pc boots up completely and you logged into windows.Click start,run and type chkdsk press enter.In next window when prompted if you would wish to schedule disk check when pc starts press n press enter and exit *
