you can run random modules. Most are matched pairs though, not that it should make a difference if they are same speed latency and voltage * +

It is probably best to buy kits though. Revised RAM of exactly the same brand and make might have different voltage requirements. That would be a nightmare for overclocking * +

Its just a question of stability. Pairs should have no issues with stability whatsoever, neither should random modules of identical specs, but it does happen and is more likely to be less stable * +

yeah you can buy 1 stick 1 week and another a wek or month or so later. the chances are they will be from the same batch anyway. the only time you may need to be carefull is is you wait a year or so. in that time they may have moved on to a different supplyer for there chips so although they may be rated the same they may have slightly different latter timings they may still be rated at say 4-4-4 * +

4-4-4-15-1 but there secondary timings may differ. in this case its not really that important as the mmc can usualy compaensate or if you decide to set them manualy they should still work at the original timings. but as long as there the same brand say ocz and rated the same say 4-4-4-15-1@800mhz they should be fine to tun in dual tripple or soon to be quad channel mode. * +
