the bane of my existence recently. Who uses sky broadband? I am considering going over to them. Post office is managed by BT, and now most evenings and weekend my connection is hugely throttled despite never recieving any email or notice of breaching fair use, excessive use etc. * +

Well arguably sky have proper unlimited packages, and virgin. The only two. Really the shaping has become extremely aggressive on my line, crashing to as low as 1meg most evenings and over a great part of the weekend. * +

So are you using p2p for file sharing or are they just throttling your connection anyway? I've had to stop using p2p and use newsgroups instead, with SSL encryption. My connection is Virgin National (through a phone line) and any time outside of 00:00 - 10:00 p2p is restricted to less than 60KBps. * +

O2 is meant to be quite good and I don't think they are very strict with their fair use policy... From what I've heard anyway. * +

I use P2P but not often and not much. Talking less than 5GB this year so far. Fibre optic is a pipedream for my area
won't be available til 2015 at the earliest i believe. I am just looking for a package that won't destroy my speed after about 4pm until midnight or so * +
