When i try play a avi movie on it it says the player might not support the file type or the codec that was used to compress the file but it plays fine on my win 7 pro what could be the problem? * +

You have the correct codec installed on the win 7 pro machine to be able to play it back. The correct codec may have been installed without you realising as it could have came with a media player. That would be my guess anyway. * +

Klite codec comes with a program called MediaInfo, use it to get detailed info on media files. start, programs, klite, tools. * +

Wait.. haven't you already got k-lite installed? If not, what codec package do you use? k-lite will work fine on windows 7.. I use the standard version * +
