WHILST TRING TO INSTALL UBUNTU OS, I GOT STUCK AT SOME POINT AND HAD TO QUIT THE INSTALLATION SETUP NOW WHEN I RESTARTED MY PC, IT FAILED TO BOOT UP AND SAID ' DISK READ ERROR OCCCURED, PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL TO RETART BUT ITS STILL DOING THE SAME. I DON'T WANT TO FORMAT IT BECAUSE I GAT SOME IMPORTANT SOFTWARES IN IT. ANY HELP GUYS? THANX.. * +

Maybe CD hasn't burnt right. You must burn the CD with the image burner programmes * +

sounds like you have corupted the partition. you may have no alternative but to format it. if you have a copy of hirons boot cd that may be able to recover it for you. but normaly didk read error is fatal for the files on the disk. * +

for the good start... upgrade BIOS, and replace S-ATA cabel on disk... it may fix the problem sometimes... *
