@Nfx, you'll find people who have had a bad experience with all brands. My HP is three years old and never had any problems at all. You'll also find there are plenty of people that will slate a particular brand and say ''I used to work for customer services for **** so I know about the problems.'' Well, the happy customers don't call support, so their view is unbalanced That being said, I tell people to avoid Acer, but plenty of people are happy with them. * +

I vouch for MacBook, Sony Vaoi and Toshiba from my own personal experience. Both my Tosh and Vaio gave me 6 years before I upgraded and passed them on to family members where they are still thriving.
