svchost.exe is not a virus is a part of ur os but if u see the svchost.exe on ur removable drive that is a virus, try to look 4 other malware coz i'm very sure svchost.exe is not eating ur data. * +

Use malware byte and eset to scan your p.c,or preferrably,clean install windows..... * +

svchost IS part of windows but it executes dlls that could be not part of windows.... and you can't see which unless you look under command line for which you need something better then windows default task manager...... *
