Hi i recently had a virus on my laptop so i had to restore it. But now ive restored it, its asking me to activate windows xp with product key but i dont have the original cd or box. Is there anyway i could activate it or get a product key from somewhere. Many thanks * +

Activation is done either online or by telephone . Only by telephone will you be given a key . online activation is done automatically when you give permission . * +

By the way , the activation key is not the same as the product key , which is used during installation . * +

The Windows XP activation center will give you all the instructions and no product key is needed . If you use the telephone option , you will be given a number to enter over the phone . Then you will be given an activation key . * +

The product key is only needed for installation of Windows , it is not needed for activation . Believe me , I know XP SP2 . * +
