My mate still uses windows 98se. Or at least he did up untill a week ago when his hard drive gave up the ghost. Still refusing to update he purchased and installed a new hard drive. After reinstalling win 98 his system boots up around 3 times faster with a modern 80gb hard driu. * +

But that 80gb hard drive is only being recognised as a 2gb drive. I didnt expect win 98se to recognise the whole 80gb but I Did expect it to read a lot more than 2gb. The question is, what is the procedure for correcting this and will it involve reinstalling win 98se again from scratch? Any help would appreciated, thanks. * +

(his spec is pentium 3 550mhz as far as I remember so it maybe one of the later win 98 machines) * +

Boot from the cd. Then type fdisk to entre partition utility .then it will ask's if you want to get full hard disk support then press Y and entre. Your mate may have selected no. So it only user 2gig. Than Create the logical and extended partition properly. You should look into youtube for procedure. Installing and Using win98 is just waste of time it take ages * +

if the computer he uses does the job he needs then there isnt any reason to update , at work we have panosonic toughbooks with windows 98 that the mechanics use for ecu hook ups on our trucks . does the job so why change * +
