got a problem with my external drive. it was working fine and i had to install something via xp which i did. upon reinstalling windows 7 back my external drive is not showing in explorer. its a 500gb seagate. the pc detects i have connected an external but it just dsnt appear in explorer. opening disk management i see it listed but its unallocated. its as if its blank yet its full. help needed. * +

may i add that between xp and win7 reinstall i did play around with partition table doctor but i was just trying to get win7 to boot instead of xp which i had installed on another drive. when i restarted and both the prior win7 and xp coulndnt work i reinstalled win7. there are no special drivers for the external drive and its plug and play. how do i go about having the drive show up in explorer? * +

I think i know whats happen to ur hd its gone corrupted.Its detected to ur disk management but it doesnt show in explorer the same problem i has with my hd. * +

and were u able to sort out yours? i was able to get to see all the files and infact the entire structure soo everything is there just that teh partition tabel does not point correctly. * +
