am a producer n am about to set up a recording studio. I dont knw much about buildin a computr bt am hopin to get one that is fast n able to mutitask well cos i will be running heavy aps at the same time. Pls someone help me out with the specification(s). * +

music production, you wanna forget about using a pc unless your gonna run hackintosh... or your gonna need to buy a mac. * +

you could build your own mac like pc. at about a 3rd of the price of a full price mac. as macs nolonger use power pc cpu's you can now build your own mac pro. it would consist of an i7920 (your best of buying a 950 as there just as cheap and better ) 3-6 gigs of ram, 1 tb hdd and an ati 5770 or 5870 gfx card... the whole lot including case 600watt psu and dvd drive will set you back about 750pound * +

compare that to a mac pro of exactly the same spec i7920 3 gig ram 5770 gfx 1tb hdd for 2041 pounds. * +

if you want a little more power then the intel xeon 8 core add 700 to the mac like build and 800 to the mac pro, or 12 cores add about 1200 to the mac like build and 2000 to the mac pro * +

there is no difference apart from price and finished design (physicaly) you dont get mac's after service or warentys or get over charged to add things like an extra hdd... macs have a design ethos as part of there price other than that there is little or no difference today between a medium spec to hi cpu spec gaming pc to the full range of mac pro products. * +

3 years ago thingswere different, mac's used ppc arcitecture as they are tru multitasking cpus that use fisc (full instruction code) as aposed to emulated multitasking that intel and amd implimented with there risc arcitecture... but as i say things have moved on somewhat. * +
