Even in that configuration it will likely run 4 plus 4 gb in dual channel and uses the other half on one stick in single channel mode. Would be ideal to use two 8gb sticks. It is better than running one 8gb stick tho atleast you benefit from dual channel speeds. * +

very nice indded .What board is that as im trying to find a decent board under 500 that will give full nvme support for 4X4tb nvme drives yet as yet not seen a single board that will let you run more than 2 drives without sacrificing pcie lanes .

Its a asus proart creator x870e. Got it for the 10gbit onboard lan and two pcie x8 off the CPU. The 4th nvme is pcie 5.0 so it cuts into the cpu lanes. I have 1 nvme in the main pcie 5 slot and other two in the chipset gen 4 slots. Did not want to get a threadripper for just a few features. * +
