I think max temps are probably around 80-85c for that CPU. You can check on the Intel website. Clean off the old thermal paste, re apply it and then clean all the dust out of your PC. * +

altho cpu's can take high tempretures technicaly for every degrees C. above 60 will halve its life. That applies to all semiconductor type components. * +

my friend oc his system after oc temp is near 60c and he is using it from one year without any issues * +

mine at load is 60-66 p4 should be okay even at 80s as its 60nm *
