i need a new motherboard 4 the main pc my mate written it down but iv mislaid it and dnt want 2 take it bak 2 him were is on the motherboard i found vt8237a on a round silver conponent does that sound rite lol. * +

no. i think that maybe either that sound or raid device, what your looking for is normaly printed on the board its self and not on a component * +

Looks like vt8237a is the southbridge and not much help at all. You will need to find out what components are going into the mobo. RAM, CPU and socket type, gfx or other cards, SATA drives? And maybe some other stuff I have forgot to mention. * +

in 9 out of 10 times im sure its normally around the edge or in the center of the board, but im probabilly wrong as i've not built a pc for years now, just got old and lazy and stick to laptops now * +
