i tried going back but the disks wouldn't work on my laptop for some strange reason * +

you didnt fix the mbr. win7 and vista use a different mbr config. you either have to completley wipe the disk by deleting the partitions or run fix mbr with the rite extenders. /56 or sumthing... cant remember but google does. * +
