Nope, I'm also using compaq and win7 is comptbl wit that brand coz I could use safe mode a few days ago when my os was genuine. May be its occouring for not using genuine copy. * +

well saying as the o.s hasnt loaded when you try to access safe mode you can be sure its a hardware misconfig. either you have been infected by somthing thats booting b4 windows and stopping your access to safemode or you have adjusted sumthing in bios. so just for s**ts and giggles, enter bios and load the failsafe/optomised defaults. * +
