I happen to have an old pc. An AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with 1GB ram dragging with it a geforce fx 5200. Running windows 7 ultimate. I want to upgrade the graphics card but i'm foreseeing problems. will the 250W power supply be sufficient to power a new gfx card? would it entail upgrading other parts of my pc such as mobo? i've got a VIA XP-K7V600 mobo. The current gfx connects to an agp slot. any advice on upgrading or is an entire system overhaul the only way? * +

entire new system would be the best way, no point wasting money on such an old system if you ask me * +

darn... was fearing that. so start with case and a mobo with a decent cpu and then work my way on adding the other components. This old sytem has served me well though... finished nfs mw on it.. working through doom 3 with it... wont be easy to just let it go let alone bin it. * +

You can buy a pre build with vastly superior specs for 250 quid lol it wouldnt be a gaming system but it would still obliterate what you have * +

hmm... guess i should look at saving up then. at the moment i can only afford one component but atleast i know where i stand. Thanks for all the input. * +

you could possbly get a 939 socket dual core athlon and something like at 6600gt but for that money you would be better off getting a new system, even if you just get the basics of a 775 motherboard with onboard gfx an e5300 costs 50 quid. ASRock G41C-VS 28 quid. 2 gig ddr2 800 from play 30 quid 500watt psu 45 quid and a gts 430 70 pounds.. and you will be able to play games. * +

220 quid will just about cover it...or 300 usd. *
