the spinpoint f3 1tb only has 2 platters which is the asme as the 500gig the only reason for having the smaller raid is speed after 30percent the burst speed drops quite a bit so best to use only 30 percent or less for the raid. * +

should have bought the samsung f4 320gb .. i put two in raid 0 in a freinds machine recently and they are dam fast , faster than the 1tb f3 and near silent , not that the f3 is a bad drive , i have 2 myself , just the newer f4 drivers are better . *
