corrupt registry, bad startup items, corrupt services... get a copy of cc cleaner and use it fully. uninstall everything that has a startup entry, clean the registry, then use the system cleaning tools. reboot and fingers crossed. * +

if you still have a problem then you need to go into the admin event viewer and see what is causing timeouts. * +

basicaly 1 or more items is failing to start (more likely multiple) each time you get a fail the pc waits a set amount of time b4 it moves on to the next item, if that fails you have to wait again and again... an hour long startup is a serious problem i would considder not even bothering as it would be faster just to format and install. * +
