i can buy a laptop for us dollars 200. but its infested with viruses and malware, it have 4 gb ram, 3ghz processor, windows 7 ultimate, and its a sony vaio. its a good deal or not? and if so, what software do i need to clean it up? it has no original windows cd, it came from the factory whith windows 7. thx for your advice and happy new year * +

It would need the BIOS flashed and the hard drive totally wiped . To have a computer shop do that for you would cost as much as what the price is . Also all the drivers need to be found , if available . * +

why bios flash? i would just reinstall the same version of windows from the vios site. if the key is on the back of the lappy then theres no reason why it can be made legit. * +

Well , from your description I would guess there are at least three rootkits on that laptop . And if one is a worm , the BIOS is probably infected . It could also be in the keyboard memory is the writer was crafty enough . That's how stuxnet was hidden . * +

fair enough. but he would only need to flash the bios if it was infected and its isnt running a protection bit. * +
