Hi there. I have a huge problem with my brother' pc. I can't figure out what's wrong. At first i thought that the windows might have crashed, since it was super slow. About 15min to startup and then it freezes. I tried installing different os's but it freezes randomly through the setup. I've taken the hdd into my pc and then i can install windows. I've switched cd roms and it does the same thing. Please tell me what component is likely to cause this problem. Thanx in advance. Any help will * +

im guessing the components worked fine in your pc?. if thats the case then your left with the cpu, mem,gfx and motherboard. uninstall all the drivers and see if the problem is still there. reboot after each removal... start with the gfx as thats the most likely place for a slow boot when you discount the hdd. * +

if your running an overclock make sure you remove that also. it may be unstable or worse, is stable but is causing thermal issues... so make sure you set the bios to optomized or failsafe defaults. * +

thanx Jay. I believe that the problem was something with the bios. I did a reset and now it's fine. Wasnt oc failure though. I thought it was memory, but its working fine in my pc. Im still not sure what it was in the bios that triggered the effect. Thanx for the help. Im so glad that i got it sorted out. Now i have to prepare for a 3 day lan. Njoy! * +

ok, I had a similar problem a few years ago and it turned out to the the fan wasn't working properly n of course cpu was bug*er cos of it. Does the pc run hot? I don't think its a driver problem if its freezing during is install. Try to note how long its on till it slows/freezes, if similar amount of time my suggestion is the cpu/fan is knackered and overheating. * +

@ karen. Nope, no heat problem at all. It crashed at random times. But now after a bios reset its perfect. *
