You asked if you could have done better. You also asked AFTER purchasing. Hardly in a place to be disparaging about my reply. Yes, you could have done better. There have been deals on Toshiba laptops in the 4-500GBP price range in the last few months. If you had asked people to suggest some deals BEFORE purchasing I'm sure you would have been provided with links to specific deals.
