just keep in mind that if u got win7 it stores its files in D drive. so adding another OS the drive letter will be E or higher * +

you should first do a wiki on virtual pc. It creates at virtual harddisk you can place it any where on hard disk it also ask how much ram should be aloted to that virtual pc. And it would be better to do some internet home work before doing there stuffs 
by using virtual pc you'll dont need to format any drive * +

@sonic...Formating the drive is not a bag factor for me... Coz I've 3 partitions as C, D and E... I can backup the data of D to E easily.... But my major concern is the security of the current OS.... Just wanted to confirm that if there is even a tiny possibility of damaging my current OS.... My OS is SP2 and want to load SP3(modified) in D drive.... * +
