Media Player Classic Home Cinema with DXVA, MadVR or CoreAVC. i use 64-bit stand-alone myself with DXVA. intel p6100 and GMA HD. VLC has weak GPU support still, they have lots of test builds for that and it's clearly marked ''experimental'' in the normal versions. tl;dr VLC gpu decoding works but doesn't give the benefits it should. uses 2x more resources than MPC-HC, stutters and drops frames while occasionally getting garbled etc. * +

If you feel like fiddling with Linux/Unix, MPlayer has VDPAU which is similar to the DXVA on Windows. * +

As mentioned you may need a GPU higher than GeForce 8x x x series with the actual support for GPU-decoding features. Or you might want to settle for 720p. idea Your specs are easily above basic 720p requirements. *
