Hi guys. I had an 80gb hard drive having important data, but all of a sudden it got damaged. 1st problem is, it rarely detects but by messing with its power n data cable. * +

When it gets detected, it makes weird imbalancing sounds out of it n doesnt even respond continuously, so cant be used as primary. * +

I tried to use it as secondary to recover some important data. I got to be quite patient. I cud copy some small files, but usually it gives error 'delayed write error' and drives of secondary hard disk disappear, then i hav to restart n try again n again to copy few mb's of data... * +

One more thing, i hav tried seagate technical support too, n they gave me dos based software to identify the drive problem, but as drive doesnt respond properly, so nthing like that appears as they showed in tutorial of that sofware... * +

its clear ur hard disk have got bad sectors on it ! and how old is that hard disk ? also try other pins of the power supplt cable .... if ur data is too imp its better to get professional help for data recovery rather than u messing with it otherwise ull loose even remaing data too * +

This is exactly why u shouldn't keep important data in a harddisk, nowadays no need to make cds too, we can save it online * +

i think it is your molex/sata power connector that is failing. try different power connectors, is your harddrive making any grinding noises? * +
