Have you tried right clicking the file , then clicking properties ? There should be some checkbox to un-protect the file . * +

Did you ever transfer files from an apple computer or device ? Sometimes , certain file types cannot be removed on a windows machine . Same thing if it has ever been encrypted for secure login's or other types of encrypted files . You would need the encryption key . * +
