received a used pc from a friend ~ on start up it says 'This copy of windows must b activated by an administrator' ~ alas I cannot log on as an administrator unless Im in safe mode.. But I cannot activate Windows in safe mode.. Aaargh so~o frustrating... PLEASE help me out on this.. cheers Niki * +

What happened was your friend deleted all the accounts but the system admin . While in safe mode , create a new admin account . after that , reboot and log into that account . You may need to register . but Windows stopped supporting that version . * +

go to control panel- user acounts and change your account to an administrator, log off and on and retry again, as it sounds like your account is restricted and when you boot safe mode your using the pc's admin account not your own * +

Safe m0de? Fres f8 when u open ur pc? If it is n0t working. Restart and press f8 togeder wth f5? Or simultaneously until u get in safe m0wd * +
