nah not for me, if i upgrade it will be to a gulftown or i may even wait till after sandybridge. im not working now so to me its a huge expence for little in the way of performance. coz its not just the chip its the socket also add to that the arrival of ddr4 in 2012 nah i think i can wait another 18 months or so. * +

not needed in games just yet. No point for me until everyone has at least core i5 750s and games use that sort of performance. Looking at the most demanding games they are clearly GPU limited still, stuff like metro. Need faster cards before faster cpus, maybe a year from now be interested. * +

for me it makes sense , for intense music production , the faster the cpu the better . a faster cpu allows me to use more plug ins sequencers etc . * +

the problem for games is that TSMC scr*pped the 32nm node that would have allowed faster cards this year to focus on 28nm later. In effect these cards are slower than what was anticipated and mapped to be around by the end of 2010. So 40 to 28nm is a big jump. * +
