i thought it was toned down in win7. i haven't seen posts about people complaining about win7 UAC. Actually in most cases they are saying its less intrusive than the vista one. Atleast that's what is the general consensus from what i have read

not true nanang. it is less intrusive than on vista. philly you need to set it to second from top to have it on recomended which is what it should be set to anyway. * +

Its already set exactly there. the best and most logical conclusion is the former win7 has been altered somehow and although it appears complete its got some gadgets added. other differences was the former one asks to install windows live and everything related to it. the genuine one asks a millions questions upon installation but that option does not come up. Lets just end it at that. * +

Its there for security. Otherwise all that malware does it writes to your reg to disable your antivirus, regtools and taskmanager without hassle. Uac block that. So its your choice * +

The thing is i didnt switch it off. Infact all the time i was using win7 i didnt even care about it as it never popped up. Looking in the settings the slider is set on the second level from top as default. Everything was fine till i tried the genuine win7 on the net and i encountered UAC like you cannot believe immediately after installation. tried switching it off and next thing you know admin issues. deleted all users still problem persisted. *
