thanks guys. i reduced the thumbnail preview size which really speeds up loading and i think the problem was scratch disk size cos scratch disk shud be at least twice the physical memory and i had around half. i got these tips from like sonicbom provided.:-) * +

@weater...it was not a ram issue. photoshop cs only sees 2gig maximum anyway and i give it around 1.7gig to work wid. it was just sum settings in photoshop dat needed to be adjusted. thanks again. *
